NEW HOUSEHOLD COLLECTIONS TIMETABLE

Your Guide to Fortnightly Household Bin Collections

From March 2012 there will be a change in bin collections. Normal rubbish bins will now only be collected fortnightly and you will be able to recycle more items at the kerbside.

Everyone should, by the 1st March, have the following bins to use:
• Normal household waste bin
• Blue cardboard and plastic bottle
• Black Box for cans, glass and paper etc
• Garden waste

If you do not have any of these bins, or are not sure what you can recycle in each, please contact the council: www.wiltshire.gov.uk or telephone 0300 456 0102.

Basic Breakdown of Collection Days:

Friday, March 2nd: Household Waste and Black Bin
Friday, March 9th: Cardboard and Plastic Bottles
Friday, March 16th: Household Waste, Black Bin and Garden Waste
Friday, March 23rd: Cardboard and Plastic Bottles

It is then alternate weeks: Household Waste, Black Bin and Garden Waste one week, and Cardboard and Plastic Bottles the next week

For more information please go to www.wiltshire.gov.uk or telephone 0300 456 0102.

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL VILLAGE JUNK SWAP

SATURDAY 30th APRIL at NESTON VILLAGE HALL

As always we had a great day at the latest Junk Swap. It was well attended and we know many people took home some new 'priceless' items.

At the end of the day we filled one car completely with goodies that went to the local charity shops in Corsham, and one and bit cars with items for recycling.

We would like to thank everyone attending and for your kind donations which went towards the hire of the hall.

The next event will be posted on this site and in the Neston News as always.

The BT Infinity competition is one way we could ensure that as a rural village we are not left behind our neighbouring towns and cities. The added bonus is that the competition also includes a prize worth £5000 of computer equipment to go to the local community.

The competition is open until the end of the year.

Neston is served by the Hawthorn Exchange. This exchange is not part of the Infinity roll out plan. Also the exchange is one of a few exchanges up and down the country that will not be unbundled. What does that mean? The equipment in the exchange will only be provided by BT. So regardless of your broadband provider the service will always rely on BT kit.

Voting is via a website:- www.racetoinfinity.bt.com

This website also provides more information about the BT program.

Neston School in the Snow A few months ago NRG donated a composter to Neston School. The Green Club then went about installing food boxes in all of the classrooms and started composting all the schools green waste. They were so successful that NRG have donated another composter to the school.

This Christmas the Green Club wrote and performed a Green Rap for the school and we have shown it here in the hope that it will inspire you also.

Green Club’s here
Neston School in the Snow With a wrapping rap
We’re gonna sort you out
‘cause we need the world back!

When you’re shopping
Don’t drive down the street
Take a bus
Or Use your feet!

When you’re buying gifts
You don’t need that plastic
Take your own bag
It’ll be fantastic!

On Christmas morning
Unwrapping your bicycle
Save the paper
It’s probably recycle-able

After Christmas
Reuse or chop your tree
Collect up all your cards
To recycle them is free

We’ve been Green Club
Now our rapping’s done
Have a very merry Christmas
And lots of Green fun! Yeah!

We at NRG are so impressed with the dedication of the Green Club and the school itself for recycling their food waste into something more useful. Well Done Neston School, keep up the good work.

We are asking all the children of Neston Village School to let us know what they think we, as a group, should be helping with next. Please fill out the form below to take part.
